A Proactive, Multidisciplinary Approach Diabetes is a silent disease that can affect your heart, eyes, kidneys, and nerves over time. In fact, 35-40% of people already show signs of complications at the time of diagnosis. Our core philosophy is that prevention is better than cure. We use a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to control the disease and, more importantly, to prevent or slow the progression of long-term complications.

Cardiovascular Health (Heart & Blood Vessels)

  • The Risk: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality for individuals with diabetes.
  • Our Management:
    • Systematic assessment of risk factors (hypertension, dyslipidemia, smoking, family history) at least annually.
    • Blood pressure measurement at every routine visit.
    • Annual ECG evaluation to screen for heart disease.
    • Optimizing blood sugar and cholesterol levels through lifestyle therapy and medication.

Diabetic Retinopathy (Eyes)

  • The Risk: High blood sugar can damage the tiny blood vessels in the retina, making it the most common preventable cause of blindness in diabetic patients.
  • Symptoms: Seeing spots or floaters, blurred vision, or difficulty seeing at night.
  • Our Management:
    • Optimizing blood sugar, blood pressure, and lipid control.
    • Coordinating an annual comprehensive eye examination which we can perform in the clinic with remedio machine and Telemedicine Consultation with a nowned ophthalmologist.

Diabetic Nephropathy (Kidneys)

  • The Risk: Diabetes is the leading cause of end-stage renal disease worldwide.
  • Symptoms: Often silent in early stages, but can include leg swelling (pedal edema), nausea, and decreased urine.
  • Our Management:
    • Annual screening with a serum creatinine test and a urine Albumin-to-Creatinine Ratio (ACR) test, eGFR Calculation.
    • Intensive blood pressure and glucose control to slow the progression of kidney disease.
    • Nutritional support and lifestyle guidance.

Diabetic Neuropathy (Nerves)

  • The Risk: Nerve damage that often causes weakness, numbness, and pain, usually in the hands and feet.
  • Our Management:
    • Annual screening for peripheral neuropathy using 10-g monofilament testing and a 128-Hz tuning fork to assess small and large-fiber nerve function and Tuning sensitometer.

Fibro Scan (Fatty Liver)

  • The Risk: Key risk factors for nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) include Obesity, Insulin Resistance (Type 2 Diabetes), Dyslipidemia, PCOS.
  • Symptoms:
    • Pain in the upper right side of the abdomen.
    • Loss of appetite and nausea.
    • Yellowing of the skin and eyes (jaundice).
    • Swelling in the legs, ankles, and abdomen (edema).
    • Mental confusion.
  • Our Management:
    • Regular blood test as directed by the doctor.

    • Fibro scan screening to evaluate fat percentage in liver.
